Signs & Sounds:Early Language for Babies

Signs & Sounds is a fun, interactive 7-week class designed for babies ages 6–18 months and their caregivers. Led by a pediatric speech-language pathologist, this 45-minute class combines play, songs, and books to teach core words and functional signs, while showing parents simple, evidence-based language strategies to support their baby’s communication at home. Caregivers will learn how to: - Model and repeat words and signs during play and routines - Encourage back-and-forth communication and turn-taking - Use gestures and signs to reduce frustration and support early language - Build vocabulary and understanding through interactive songs, books, and toys Each week focuses on a core functional word paired with its corresponding sign, plus a parent coaching strategy so caregivers can use these techniques at home in everyday routines. By the end of class, parents will have the tools to continue supporting their baby’s language growth in a playful, meaningful way.
